City of Torrance to appoint a temporary new council person to fill Cliff Numark's seat. Yes, Torrance City Council may soon make a decision as to who they will appoint to fill Cliff Numark's seat.  On November 5, 2013 Torrance had an election and Cliff Numark won a seat on the El Camino Trustee Board leaving his seat as a Torrance City Councilman open. The seat may be kept open until the upcoming June 3rd election as it is close enough to not cause much turmoil. Rumors say that Heidi Ascraft  is among the people that may be appointed. After all she is a candidate running for the same seat I am and she has already been endorsed by Mayor Frank Scotto, etc. I personally feel the position should be fought for in an election where the people of Torrance make the decision and not a small group of local politicians. I will however put myself on the list to be appointed since that list exists and the process is there. I respect and believe in our Democracy and in the end the people of Torrance will choose their Council Members.
